Welcome to the HankieBears website. Summer is coming to a close in Seattle. Darker in the morning, grey and rainy, we long for sun and warmth. The bears, stricken with a serious case of cabin fever, are all cavorting around the house in their birthday suits.

HankieBears are cuddly artist teddy bears designed and made by Jean Clements-Macak from Seattle, Washington USA. They are created in the traditional style, with a touch of whimsy. They range in size from 6" (15 cm) to 21" (53 cm). Each HankieBear is constructed in a smoke-free environment, of the highest quality materials such as imported mohair, alpaca, merino wool, Ultrasuede®, and perle cotton. And...each is accompanied by its very own hankie. I'm also proud to say that all HankieBears are lead-free. To read about the dangers of lead shot, please click on the "I'm no Leadbelly!" picture at the bottom of the links page.

Most bears are one-of-a-kind, but I occasionally make some small editions, and open editions. From time to time the bears will be joined by a "HankieHare" one of our special long-eared creations. The Floppy Cats and Road Kill Kitties have been a big hit, and I'll be adding more soon. I am also working on the designs for some other critters. To navigate through the HankieBears web site just click your mouse on a button, and off you'll go. Remember to scroll down to the bottom of every page, you'll find some interesting things.

Don't forget to click on the "Cosmo" link at the bottom of this page. Lots of people have asked to see it and I've finally got that site back up and running. There are a few pictures that are missing, but the bulk of it is there. So be sure to find out all about the "Secret Sisters" and a great international project several bear artists were involved with to benefit the WSPA's 1999 Libearty auction.

My Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Betsy, who recently went to the Rainbow Bridge, used to supervise the bearmaking. You'll see Betsy on most pages. Her job has been taken over by Albert and Tucker, two goofy boy Corgis that are frankly, more interested in treats than bears. But if you would like to see more of Betsy (and WHO wouldn't?), including some audio and video...please click on her picture at the bottom of this page. The Corgis, have their own webpage and would love to show off for you. And if you are just plain nuts about Corgis, like I am, be sure to see the link to the Corgi Netring at the bottom of the HankieBears Links page!
